Germany 2010 Trip Itinerary



September 16: Fly to Munich, Germany (MUC)

September 17: Arrive in Munich

September 18 (day): Oktoberfest

September 18 (evening): Augsburg - Individual arrival in Augsburg, receive tour information and bicycles.

September 19: Augsburg-Lake Worthsee (approx 60km/38 miles)
Across green meadows and through rustic Bavarian villages and towns you cycle to Lake Ammersee. On the lake bank, cosy inns with sunny terraces and shady guest gardens invite you to take refreshment. Cycle to Lake Worthsee, reputed for the warm water.

September 20: Lake Worthsee-Murnau (approx. 45 km/28 miles)
On the edge of Lake Worthsee and Lake Prisensee, you cycle to Andechs monastery. Pass the little town of Weilneim - the monks of the surrounding 12 monasteries contributed to the modern appearance of the town. If you feel like swimming you have further opportunity in Lake Staffelsee and Lake Riegsee near Murnau.

September 21: Murnau-Füssen/Schwangau (approx. 60 km/38 miles) Beautiful meadows and idyllic alpine pastures seem your way to Fussen/Schwangau. On the way famous Wiekirche - synonymous for Bavarian Rococo - should be visited.

September 22: Fussen/Schwangau-Schongau (approx. 45km/28 miles). King Louis' famous fairytale castles in Konigswinkel - Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein - as well as the Roman thermal spa on foot of Tegelberg are the highlights of today. Cycle on Via Claudia Augusta from Steingaden and Peiting to Schongau.

September 22: Return by train/bus to Ohlstadt - accommodations for Passion Play package.

September 24 & 25: Innsbruck
Individual arrival in Innsbruck. If you have time don’t miss the chance to explore the town. The famous landmark “Goldenes Dachl” for example is definitely worth a visit, as well as the Berg Isel where you have a breathtaking view over Innsbruck

September 26:Innsbruck - Strass (approx. 45 km/28 miles)
Today you cycle through a part of Tyrol which is still very traditional, and even now characterized by the former wealth achieved by trading in salt and ore. Be astonished by the famous crystal objects and jewelry of the “Swarovski Crystal Worlds” museum. Surrounded by the Tyrolean mountains you cycle along the river Inn to Strass.

September 27: Strass - Kufstein (approx. 35 km/22 miles)
The cycle path passes magnificent old castles and fortresses. You arrive at Kufstein (“pearl of Tyrol”) which delights its visitors with the largest outside-organ of the world as well as a wonderful old quarter.

September 28: Kufstein - Wasserburg (approx. 68 km/42 miles)
Heading out of Kufstein you leave Tyrol and cross the border to Bavaria. Along the dam you cycle to Rosenheim. Today’s tour ends in Wasserburg which is almost completely surrounded by river Inn.

September 29: Wasserburg - Mühldorf (approx. 46 km/29 miles)
In Bavaria the cycle path leads you along the river Inn, you pass lovely little villages and finally reach Mühldorf. A lot of sights such as the former summer residence of the archbishop are waiting for you.
Return to Freising for last evening.
